I'm Tesfamichael Abebe — a software engineer from Addis Ababa with a strong foundation in full-stack development, backend AI engineering, and applied machine learning.

I'm pursuing a BSc in Software Engineering at Addis Ababa University while completing a diploma in Applied Generative AI at EPIC Institute of Technology — which is where I built EPIC++, my own statically-typed language and compiler, still my proudest work. Right now I work as an ML engineer and researcher at Synheart, modeling human states from kinematics.

The pattern across everything I build: understand the machine one layer deeper than the job strictly requires. It's why a frontend internship at a payment gateway turned into Go microservice optimization, and why a course assignment turned into a compiler.

; ===== experience · reverse chronological ==============

Where I've shipped.

  1. Jun 2026 — present

    Synheart AI

    ML Engineer & Researcher

Engineering and researching machine-learning systems for kinematics and human state recognition — modeling activity states, postural states, locomotion, and movement regularities.

    • Experiment with and train models for human state recognition
    • Collect datasets; read and summarize research papers
    • Propose system architectures
    • Exploring integration into a Human State Inference (HSI) model
  2. Jan — May 2026

    iCog Labs

    AI Engineer Intern

Contributed across two teams at Ethiopia’s pioneering AI lab.

    • Consistent open-source contributions to the Cordial Miners repository
    • Contributed to the OpenPsi codebase in the MeTTa programming language
  3. Aug — Nov 2025

    Chapa Financial Technologies S.C

    Frontend Engineer

Built and shipped production payment products for Ethiopia’s leading payment gateway.

    • Built the events platform (live at chapa.events) and donations platform (chapa.link/donations)
    • Rebuilt 70% of all gateway screens in two weeks with my senior during the redesign — Next.js, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS
    • Helped the backend team optimize Go payment microservices: 300ms responses under concurrent load, race conditions eliminated
    • Wrote API contracts on Confluence; met every sprint deadline on Jira
  4. Jul — Sep 2025

    Gebeya Inc

    Full Stack Developer

Built a Jira-like HR management application and wired single sign-on across three internal platforms.

    • React frontend, NestJS backend, Jest test suite
    • Integrated Keycloak SSO across three interconnected platforms: HR management, recruitment, and KPI rewards
    • Built the integration logic so data flowed between apps and each responded to the others’ state
  5. Jun — Jul 2025

    Efuyegela

    Full Stack Developer Intern

A brief, focused full-stack development internship.
